The GTA 6 countdown

Days, hours, minutes and seconds to launch, counted from the date Rockstar committed to in writing. It keeps running with JavaScript switched off, and it costs nothing.

The GTA 6 launch day checklist

Most of what ruins a launch night is decided weeks earlier. This is the short list of things worth doing now, the week before, and on the day itself.

Why these carry no advertising

A tool is either useful or it is not, and putting an ad unit next to a countdown is a good way to make a useful thing worse. This section earns nothing and is not meant to. The site pays for itself through advertising on the written pages and affiliate links in the buying guides, both of which are labelled where they appear.

They work without JavaScript

Everything here is calculated when the page is built and written into the HTML. Scripts only add behaviour on top: keeping the countdown ticking, remembering what you have ticked off. Block them and the countdown still shows a number, the checklist still shows a list, and the regions still show.

That is a deliberate rule rather than an accident. Most countdown pages render nothing at all until a script runs, which fails for anyone on a slow connection, anyone using a screen reader and every search engine.

Nothing here needs an account

There is nothing to sign up for, and what the checklist remembers is stored in your own browser rather than on a server. We cannot see it and it never leaves your device. What is collected while you read anything on this site is listed in the privacy policy.

What is coming

The map becomes genuinely interactive when the game is out and locations can be verified rather than guessed. Building a pannable map from trailer stills would look impressive and be mostly invented, which is not how this site works.
