Pre-orders are already open
They went live at midnight local time on June 25, 2026, globally and all at once, rather than rolling out region by region. Rockstar confirmed it on the Newswire the day before and updated the same post once orders were actually taking.
You can place one on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, through the official game site, or at the usual physical retailers. There is no queue and no allocation to fight over: this is a digital-first release and nobody is going to run out of download codes.
The two editions
There are Standard Edition, Ultimate Edition, and that is the whole line-up. No third tier, no collector’s box with a statue, at least not announced.
The Standard Edition is the game. The Ultimate Edition adds what Rockstar describes as a collection of premium vehicles, weapons and apparel threaded across the story rather than dropped in a menu at the start. What is not public is a list of exactly which items, or how much of a difference they make. If you want the specifics before deciding, that information does not exist yet.
The price of either edition has not been announced. No edition pricing has been announced. Anything you have seen quoted comes from a retailer placeholder or an analyst note, and we are not going to repeat it here as though it were a number Rockstar gave.
The bonus everybody qualifies for
Every pre-order gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, for every purchase made before November 20, a set of items themed around the older Vice City.
Read that condition again, because it is the part most coverage gets wrong. The pack is not exclusive to people who ordered early. Anybody who buys the game in the first day of release still gets it. If your only reason to pre-order was locking in that bonus, you can wait, and waiting costs you nothing.
Digital pre-orders additionally include One free month with a digital pre-order. Worth checking whether it renews automatically on your account, because that is normally how a free month becomes a paid one.
The two dates before release day
Pre-loading opens on November 12, 2026, a week before release. If you have pre-ordered digitally, that is the evening to start the download rather than release night, when every player on your platform is pulling the same file at once.
Physical copies reach shops on the same day, November 12, 2026, and this is the detail worth knowing before you buy a disc: A download code, not the game data. You are buying a box with a code in it, so the download is the same size and takes the same time as it would digitally. A disc will not save you a single gigabyte.
We do not know how large that download is. No install size has been published by Rockstar or either storefront. As soon as a storefront lists it, it goes on the file size page.
Should you pre-order at all
Two honest arguments, and they point in different directions.
Pre-load is a real advantage. A week of lead time on a download this size, on launch night, on a network everybody else is hammering, is worth something. That is the strongest practical case.
The date has moved before. This release has already slipped more than once, and money sitting with a retailer is money you cannot use elsewhere while you wait. Digital pre-orders are cancellable up to release day on both PlayStation and Xbox, but the refund route is theirs, not ours, and the terms are worth reading before you rely on them. The history is on the delay page.
The middle path most people should take: pre-order digitally close to release rather than months out, get the pre-load, get the bonus anyway, and keep your money until then.
What is still unknown
No pricing for either edition. No itemised list of what the Ultimate Edition contains. No download size. No word on whether the free month of GTA+ auto-renews.
All four sit on this page as blanks rather than estimates, and they get filled in when Rockstar or a storefront publishes them, not when somebody credible guesses. That is how the whole site works.
