We collect as little as we can get away with, and this page says what that is in plain language rather than in three thousand words of boilerplate.

Who we are
JoyrideBay is an independent publication run by Javier Marín. For any privacy question, including a request to see or delete your data, use the contact page and the request goes straight to the editor.
When you read a page
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read and where they arrive from. It sets cookies in your browser and records things like the page address, your approximate location derived from your network address, your device type and your browser. We have no interest in identifying you individually and we do not try to.
We do not sell your data. We do not build advertising profiles of you ourselves, and we do not upload reader lists anywhere.
Our web server keeps standard access logs for security and troubleshooting. Those logs are deleted on a rolling basis.
When you join the newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address and the date you confirmed the subscription. That is it. No name, no phone number, nothing else.
Subscribing is double opt-in, which means we send you a confirmation email and nothing else happens until you click it. Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address rather than hiding it.
If you sign up through a form on a social platform rather than on this site, that platform passes us your email address, and their own privacy policy covers what they collect on their side.
Advertising
Some sections of this site carry display advertising served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google’s ads settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info.
Our buying guides and our tools carry no advertising at all.
Affiliate links
When you follow an affiliate link, the retailer sets its own cookie so it can attribute the visit to us. We never see who you are or what you bought, only an aggregate count of sales. See the affiliate disclosure for how that works.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what data we hold on you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Readers in the European Union and the United Kingdom have those rights under the GDPR, and readers in California have comparable rights under the CCPA. We apply them to everybody regardless of where you are, because running two standards is more work than running one.
Write to us and we will answer within thirty days. We will not ask you to prove anything beyond control of the email address in question.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has subscribed, tell us and we will remove the address.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and material changes are announced in the newsletter. Details of the cookies themselves are on the cookie policy.
